and in the beginning
there were diaries found
in nests of the deceased
and so we know that man
and woman have forever sought
to explain the inexplicable ....
but they have tried
to share the majesty
of the roiling black tide of evening
rising to peaks of glistening white foam
just so they could smash into pillar gray,
rocks of immobility
lined up for miles down the endless shore
repeated slaps to the face
the aftershave of men would fall short
in the perfume of knowing full well
they may never be able to speak in pictures
to explain the inexplicable....
but they have tried
we need it now more than ever
as adversarial tribalism ascends to take it's seat
with CNN and FOX News leading the charge
as the uber-rich who want even more have gone to war
against the meek, the compassionate, the honest, the tolerant
and empathy is seen as a weakness
and true connection is discouraged as dangerous
it is now time for the warrior poet to mount his steed
time for the avenging artist to wield her brush
like a sword of factual redemption
