She was a bit sketchy
Skinny and all nerves
She was tall with eyes that watched out
And touched someone

Intimacy was like a bank robber
Taking everything and leaving trembling souls

His wives always seemed suspicious
Like I was going to steal the silverware
Was not my story
But I guess to a docile subservient woman
I am a total threat
The discussion of patricarchy will come up

I wake up
These moments
That talk to me

Trying to pry Lisa out of the hot tub at 4 in the morning

I just couldn’t take it anymore
My crazy family
All of us stealing Valium from grandpa
And going to the dealer down the street
Before eating turkey
Dad passed out in the potatoes
The rest of us “ not hungry “
Holidays

So now that everyone is in some degree of recovery
It’s even more awkward
Because sometimes they get a bit over the top
Preaching and fanatic ideas about everything
Under the sun
I guess we are trying to make up for lost time as assholes

Sometimes there are super powers involved
With actors transformation in the living room
Although their need for constant validation
Is large and in charge
Love is part of the magic
Animated characters

Just people caught up in the 'big show' I guess.

It’s not unkind
Just very unusual
People don’t understand the sacrifice
In family for creative endeavors
Although it’s astonishing the emotional love
Coming through my sons film
Or my father or grandfather
I know the sound of quiet warrior
Although I have now and arrow
It does not mean I have to let it fly
Which boils down to what I wanted

They love me

I miss them when they are not around
I wonder if they know
