the doldrums must die

I fail to see the harm in dreaming
my walter middy mind doesn't alarm me,
dreams are just an extension of your arm
as you try to touch the universe and you insist
your conscience take a day off
it is there in the magic of no-limits,
there in the rejection of rote footsteps
relayed by generations of mechanical teachers
where one can feel the pine needles scraping the bare thigh
as you run into the night and you begin to dance like shiva
'round the fire
and sparks can be inhaled and exhaled
cells cauterized to kill the oceanic doldrums
and a new you is born in your desire to imagine
the unimaginable

. . .dream the impossible dream
This is my quest,
To follow that star
No matter how hopeless,
No matter how far.
thank you for the poem

They must, they have, and they will.

doldrums made of dust and ash
a dash of memory for luck
but nothing works like droplets
red blood flowing without thinking
escape from all that matter
accumulating under the ladder
nowhere else to put the shit
doldrums will not leave without pleas
drumming inside the haid...
thoughtlessess... room to fill an imagination

I dig your pome, Steve... it inspired me.

Gracias!
