a thousand times before

I've written far too many poems
to keep track of my redundancy
and tho on some suppressed level of measurement
I'd love to believe each idea is brand new and brilliant,
the right side and the left side agree

in my case....there is nothing new under the milky way

every word in every poem
has been used before by some poet
on the opposite side of the mystical equation, but
even with my fingers solidly caught in the the crevice
on the sheer rock wall

I simply cannot contain my free-fall

my curse to write like a manic marionette
too narcissistic to see his reflection
in the universal pool of truth and ghostly ponds of preponderance,
spirits in the library with bony fingers tapping me on the shoulder
insist that I smell the eternal sea in the stuffy air

they are interchangeable comes a whisper

sky and water
sun and land
man and animal...plant and wind
damn...i must have had this very idea
a thousand times before

I think everyone's being a bit dull about your poem here, saw - state the unadorned truth about anything and watch the place get quiet as an empty church - and that is sad the way it reflects on us. Ya got my vote.

At this point I think it's all been said before. So keep saying what you're saying. Underneath the vicissitudes and complexitudes the basics never really change very much..

I was drowning in the
universal pool of truth and ghostly ponds of preponderance,
then someone through me a kind word
and now I got to keep swimming or sink

Like the poem very much, had to take a GO at it.
thanks for writing
