Warhol's war god
Warhol's war god
Warhol had a war god
under a wall of soup cans.
He paid a thousand dollars
when everything had a price.
Worlds became unbalanced
more than once, twice, thrice!
Ahayu da Ahayu da.
The Zuni want him back.
The world wants him back.
under a wall of soup cans.
He paid a thousand dollars
when everything had a price.
Worlds became unbalanced
more than once, twice, thrice!
Ahayu da Ahayu da.
The Zuni want him back.
The world wants him back.

Re: Warhol's war god
Thanks saw... Apparently all of these figures have been returned. Pretty clear illustration of a cultural divide. Only a "native" culture would be so concerned with something like maintaining "balance" in the world. Capitalized culture doesn't give a shit about balance, only possession and profit. And stripping resources.
Re: Warhol's war god
Give the Greeks back the Elgin marbles.....all the thievery's have occurred over time.....
me I feel like I'm becoming some kinda Kung fu t.v. Priest.....
Re: Warhol's war god
True, but I imagine most of it has occurred in the last two centuries-- the twentieth century in particular. I remember reading how the tribe saw the Cold War and threat of nuclear annihilation (and even Warhol's death) as part of the imbalance and instability created by the thefts; trying to claim possession of a living deity which belongs to everyone...
Re: Warhol's war god
I've always struggled with various forms of ownership...particularly land
While visiting a friend in Norway, we were walking up the gravel road from his family cabin, and he began to walk through an inhabited stretch of land and I asked do you know these people, and Carl explained that there was a law that allowed this....that anyone can walk on anyone else's land
I was fascinated by this, and a great deal more of Norway's culture...a most progressive place to live....if only Norwegian wasn't such a bitch of language to learn...tho most speak English....looking forward to a return visit to the cabin in the near future....

Re: Warhol's war god
(from the link)“No Trespassing" ... signs are everywhere in California, whether you’re in a dense residential area in San Francisco, or in the middle of the desert with no sign of humans in sight.
Yeah, we need property rights, but it goes too far at times. I'm trying to set up a drive-- dirt roads only-- across Nevada, from its southern point all the way to Oregon. I have most of the route (parts of which I've already been on), but the Vegas sprawl and thousands of square miles of military land to its north are are hard to to get past. Along Las Vegas Wash are dirt paths scratched across (empty) future construction areas, and some of them go through into hills on the far side. But at each one, the same story: "NO TRESPASSING. VIOLATORS WILL BE PROSECUTED ..." Crazy idea, I guess...
Re: Warhol's war god
It's perfect when you think about it that those who stole the land in the first place are the same who then put up Posted signs - perfect. More perfect yet"NO TRESPASSING. VIOLATORS WILL BE PROSECUTED ..."
are the sons & daughters of that land grab finding no sacred place or high ground to stand on in finger pointing for morality's sake at the injustice while continuing to enjoy the fruits of that theft on a day-by-day basis.
Doll, you may have found a place of rest but I'm still on the trail.
Re: Warhol's war god
Pretty much. I kinda have to remember that when I start to complain too much (about what I don't have)..
Re: Warhol's war god
Same thing happens to me
