the chains of blah

Post by saw » March 20th, 2018, 9:48 am

through the wineglass
the room is a green twilight
a tinted reality suited to a poet
that hopes to transcend the obvious,
the jade distortion reminds me
how easy it is to change my mood

I must confess
I am an escape artist
proficient in my "ability"
to free the chains of blah
like samson between the fluted pillars
inside the boring columns of cement

the refraction of the dancing candle
the earthy aroma of pinot noir
the prismatic angles of time and mass
that are always there
can be seen by any human that cares,
without 3D glasses

X-ray vision is not exclusively
the work of super men...no
it's there for me as well, even my average
mind can bend the light
when I uncork what bottles me up
get beyond the obstructed stadium views

those affordable cheap seats...
the blackness will come soon enough
but for this moment in this snapshot
let me believe my eyes...
let me be sure.... there is poetry,
in this room
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

like this very much, one of those unremarkable moments captured and expanded into a whole universe of being, an alternate reality existing between two instants of time.... made me think of when I was a wee lad, hanging head down off the edge of the couch, viewing the living room from this upside-down perspective, imagining what it would be like to walk around on the ceiling..... or what if the house were filled with water in which I could magically breathe, and swim from room to room......

If I thought I could do a bottle or a glass of wine I would love that
But it sort of kills it for me
Because I have fought the demons of addiction for 31 years- not always winning-
So I have to be Careful what streets I walk down-
Because i might end up in a bad neighborhood in my head-
When that creature comes to call I am forever afraid of what happens next-
I have tried to become a kind person and to share with other people- but in the end my children have saved me in ways they might not know-
I held on to what little sanity I had left at first for them- then for me- the blah of depression and alcoholism and shallow needless chatter about design and architecture- I just want a cigarette- I want to just smoke some weed and sleep-
Whatever- I hear so much stuff about the liver alcohol- and trust me- the shit will let you down every time
reason is over rated, as is logic and common sense-i much prefer the passions of a crazy old woman, cats and dogs and jungle foliage- tropic rain-and a defined sense of who brings the stars up at night and the sun up in the morning---

thank you colleagues..,appreciate the comments...and it helps to know there is someone listening, and thinking, and responding...I'd hate to be the last human on earth... 8)
and jana...the wine part is a tiny snippet of the poem....a scan around the room....and didn't mean to suggest the wine had anything to do with the awakening....green glass had more to do with it than contents... 8) ...but I certainly understand the temptations you face and applaud your new direction...children and grand-babies are better experienced sober... 8)
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

Break the chains of Blah ! Yes. (Why didn't I see this one before?)

Always possible, though not always as easy as one might think. BLAH is relentless; it just keeps coming. "Raise the shields Number One. Make it so"...

My apologies for going on and on about a small fragment- yet in fact- I love the challenge! 31 years of this and thank God for Russell BrAnd- he makes it pretty simple- temptation is not it- trust me! However - thank you for the blessings- your writing is fantabulos - blah blah - color - paint - a little afternoon sun- life is beautiful

In blah blah- I love his description of toxic people- like vapors they leave behind...
