rain slams the southern windows
water roars through the ancient conduits
free-falling to the longing earth
the limbs of the elm drink the tonic spirit

so many disparage the the clouds
so hooked on sunshine they miss the cosmic balance
and so it is, and has always been
when the farmer smiles, the parade frowns

I'm ok with rain, seems absurd to always exoect
the glory of shimmering light, all you need
is a wet world agenda, just the way
you have plans to to bask on the beach

fret not the blackness of these days
for that time is temporary, take a deep breath
of ionized oxygen, and stop saying to everyone you meet
think we'll ever see the sun again ?...c'mon man

revel in the climatic flip flop, try not to feel
sorry for yourself, use this time wisely
it is a gift from eos
to contrast her radiant beauty

But that's just it-- cosmic balance. Where IS it for nine straight months of dull wet gray? Yes, it's cleansing, I keep telling myself (and it is). Yes, it is nature recharging the veins of earth (and it is). But we live on light too...

Enjoyed this. (And I think I'm finally going to move to the desert...)

seasonal disorder
can be so real for some
met a woman from seattle once
had to leave the place
always depressed, but here
in the mid atlantic
you just need to be patient
