chest rising.....falling
rhythmic rain on tin
man...
houdini transition
like new hair on the wolfman's knuckles
and splits in the seat of the pants
all your features creaking
like hinges to the vault
yes, yes, I can hear it
I can discern the pains of growth
I am aware
the old me has vanished
like a dove that was just there
covered by the magician's red scarf...
sometimes metamorphosis
is quick bursts....
gatling gun rat-a-tats,
bullet holes in the concrete
then silence...... I check for blood,
see no obvious wounds
but feel a little taller,
where did these high-water pants come from ?
I feel new...not...teenager-cracking-voice-new
but new.....what is this new ?
I think to myself.....oh yes.....this is butterfly-new
