swallowed

Post by saw » June 9th, 2018, 10:08 am

synthetic whale
made her mark
like a lover's name
on the back of a boat

a faded heart
carved in a tree
the bark digesting
moments in time

one can't always avoid
the rocks
Lorelei's voice
is beyond seductive

Tommy Edwards knew
It's All in the Game
"many a tear has to fall"
a memorable melody in A major

we know the risks, the pitfalls
the adrenaline junkie makes his move
dives from the cliffs in Acapulco
like a fantasy Elvis

only difference
as we look back at this life....
Mr. Presley always pops up from below the waves,
with his hair combed
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

life can swallow you
watch for the spit-out tho
'cause you might ricochet
off a hard surface, you gotta
be resilient....flexxxxxible
a contortionist that can bend your leg
in back of your head
but resist kissing your ass
you don't want to get to likin' that
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

from the belly of the whale
our time imprisoned by our choices,
circumstances, bad luck, a woman
a man, a friend, charisma, cosmic
intervention, the ride in the karmic kar
the karmann ghia, the bodhisattva,
the nesting fish each swallowing the smaller
we get a sense of the fragilty
we come to grips with how fast one has to swim
to come out unscathed, but if you do
you can write about it, you can share
your visit to the ribs of a mammoth mammal
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

every gray hair
a story
a lesson learned
a credit earned
I've made my share of mistakes
maybe more
but somehow I'm here
a few scars - but
still vertical
still smiling
I guess that makes me
a rich man
.
