firetrucks

so dino and i were down the alley
he had his paycheck money
and some guy with his finger in his pocket
pointed it at us

it might've been a gun but later on
dean and i figured it was a finger
since, you know, if this guy'd had a gun
he'd've already pawned it

he said what you'd expect about hand it over
i wasn't going to have that even if it was a gun
so i yelled fire fire FIRE
which had been my plan for a long time

you know
for this kind of situation
i mean you yell help
forget it

you yell fire, everybody's interested
it worked out well too
guy with the dangerous finger ran away
as the firetrucks showed up

i'm sorry i wasted their time

That usually works.

This poem inspires me to get back into a storytelling, maybe slight tinges of surreal irony if I can downshift a bit.

Might have to disconnect the internet for awhile. Or at least most of it.

the lesson here might be
always have a plan...and
maybe more than just a plan A
"those were the days my friend
we thought they's never end "

interesting tactic - as a country boy I'm more prepared for an encounter with moose than I am a predatory primate.

mnaz - I always enjoyed your 2nd person travelogues through the vast arid spaces of your world.
