days fly by like errant rockets
calendar pages fall to the floor
pile up like trash in the gutter,
like crispy brown leaves who lost their mojo,
we all end up as fertilizer somewhere
down the chain, so drink up girls and boys
let the rye drip from the tongue
that has little left to say, I mean
I must have said this very thing before,
written the same god damned poem
with a different title, another name...
and my name will vanish like my poetry one day
tossed in plastic tubs of recycling, just like
the rotten arms of the oak, branches all
come back to mother earth, decay is a way of life
the earth was the first recycler, before
the bureau of solid waste, and separation
paper plastic metal, insects eat, birds eat them
and hawks eat the birds too slow or sickly,
there is no moral....there is no twist of fate
it's just the way it is.....womb to tomb...................blink
decay is a way of life
decay is a way of life
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading
you may end up where you are heading
Re: decay is a way of life
Time seems a little too fast.
What will be left of this? Anywhere?
Sums up my feelings almost each fall...

Autumn stirs the soul
you feel something coming
different from spring
more ominous, demanding
more answers

Re: decay is a way of life
spring -
excitement, hope
for joys anticipated...
autumn -
wistful nostalgia
for joys remembered....

Re: decay is a way of life
from beginnings to our endings
all is a devilish questioning but
seldom never answers so great
that will survive the length of history
"it's just the way it is.....womb to tomb..."
Well spoken, Steve. Enjoyed the journey.
