decay is a way of life

days fly by like errant rockets
calendar pages fall to the floor
pile up like trash in the gutter,
like crispy brown leaves who lost their mojo,
we all end up as fertilizer somewhere
down the chain, so drink up girls and boys
let the rye drip from the tongue
that has little left to say, I mean
I must have said this very thing before,
written the same god damned poem
with a different title, another name...
and my name will vanish like my poetry one day
tossed in plastic tubs of recycling, just like
the rotten arms of the oak, branches all
come back to mother earth, decay is a way of life
the earth was the first recycler, before
the bureau of solid waste, and separation
paper plastic metal, insects eat, birds eat them
and hawks eat the birds too slow or sickly,
there is no moral....there is no twist of fate
it's just the way it is.....womb to tomb...................blink
