Gods of coffee

I was challenged to stop drink coffee
My decaf adventure was short lived
However
After a month of only one or two cups a day
The coffee I bought that was in my purse mysteriously
Disappeared - fell out of the backpack
The day before I lost something as well
I went and got more coffee
My intention was to grind it at the market
Forgot
Put it in the blender
Now the blender is fried
And there was coffee all over the counter
Yeah I got the message
But really
This is just too funny-
I drank coffe the way some people drink beer
Slurping all day with sugar
The only place you can get me drink express
Is in Italy
That’s how it works at my house
Like: who thought I would have “ helpers”

the coffee ritual
a new rite of passage
each day
our brain craves the aroma
our body wants caffeine
I've stopped briefly
time to time
but always wander back to her

I am what I drink/think thanks for the poetry jana
I want to be buried with my Keurig
Gods of poetry, another ritual
keeps me going
my psychological/physiological crutches that
keeps me on my feets without a walker

life would be barren indeed
without my caffeine drip -
black
unsweetened
(the way the gods intended it)
quaffed from my dollar store mug
ophthamologist recommended cutting back -
(non-glaucoma ocular pressure issues)
so I did -
from about 6 cups a day
to 5
that's like, what,
a 17% decrease, almost...
now if I can do something about the alcohol.....

coffee
alcohol
might be bad
might be ok
if you give 'em up. well
what are we talkin 'bout really
adding, subtracting a year of life perhaps
why bother getting hung up
with that decision
we're all old here
do what feels good
the doctor told my grandmother
at 94 years old she had to give up
everything she liked
the next day, I bought everything bad
on the doctor's list
and mailed her a care package
she lived another 2 years
and was very grateful for my shipments

Like truck, we have a Keurig (cool rig) that is indispensable each morning
a must have but I've chilled on the amounts lately, pushing two cups a a.m.
usually a single decaf at night... dunking my cookies or mat a pastry. haha!
I wonder if we're one of last generation to use coffee so much..? any ideas??
