I tried to stop drinking coffee
As I was slurping it all day and smoking lots of cigarettes
Talking with people from all around
Just like me
My son suggests I quit
He said” I bet you can’t”
I was gifted some coffee at this same fork in the road
The pre- spider web headache
I was telling myself how good I was for only having one cup

Then came the morning of truth
It was revealed that it was decaf
Oh my God I went and got a huge bag of Pete’s just in case
Was not going to do that headache without some hard narcotics
So- that might not be such a good idea
Having been there and done that
So I had coffee
First with honey
Coconut mikk
Baby I tried everything
Here it is
I wil have half and half with my caffeinated coffee
Bound and determined

Well - then that bag of Pete’s coffee ran out see
And I thought yeah stumptown
I bought some on sale
Holler mountain with a caramel scent
I lost it
I got mad and went and bought another
Came home and used the blender
To grind it
The blender is dead
There are whole beans as well as ground ones in my coffee
And clearly
The signs and wonders of the universe are trying to get me to let go of it
31 years
It’s like we are married
I’m not ok if I wake up and you
Coffee are not there

It’s bad enough that my favorite body guards are dead
The ones that watched out for me when I lost my head
Being a hippie I knew that things could get tricky
Trust the coffee and be awake and alive
Smell that sticky sweet

it has been a while since i had cofee with a friend
instead i think it is best not to blend rigt now

i knw when she is on a manic deal because she gets all weepy
wanting hugs and then,,,,,
i have to listen to the family fucking saga AGAIN
really?
get the fuck over it
or take a valium and go to fucking sleep

I love people
They make me smile


At the coffee bar
A retired police officer
And his cheap friend that brings his own Starbucks in the bottles to Starbucks
Then he asks for cups of ice
His friend pays a dollar without him knowing
For the cup and the ice
There is a homeless lady
Fading in the shopping center
She can sit there a long time
My gym looks out over the coffee bar
I can watch people

So many kinda of people
Yet we are the same
The wrinkles
The skin-bling
Teenagers and the smells of Cinnabon’s
The body shop
Wafts of perfume
The lady that gives you a sample
Of 200$ face cream
I watch
I get smiles
The massage guys
The nail salon
I walk there when it’s hot
The book store
Oh the smell of paper
And coffee with honey and brown sugar/ half and half
