meditations of a strange man

Post by saw » November 26th, 2018, 11:21 am

there's a gap 'tween the synapses
too wide some mornings to span contentment
and time has played another trick on you
to reveal another day that will need some oomph,
and so you grab your keyboard to see what's inside
and your fingers go off down the road
with alacrity and boyish hope, and your head remains
disengaged in the semi-coma of morning in the dark,
the sky is foreboding and unhelpful, the rain
pounds the side of the house like it does your head
and all of these factors conspire to shove you out the door
to take care of life's demands, the errands we do to feel like we are in control
as a little voice from some unknown location snickers
at that thought, but we try....we go through the motions
'cause we believe if we follow this old script things must be OK
the routines of life we memorize and repeat
in myriads of little ways that form the skeleton of a day

we are the new skin
the old follicles are now on the floor
we are the magic of reinvention
we are the possibility that can make another human smile
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading
