Tonight, I decided to watch a drama
with a twisted and complicated plot
that includes extortion, blackmail,
the Russian Mafia, espionage,
and a cast of bizarre characters!
So, I turned on the news.
Best drama on TV!

Re: Best drama on TV!
Exactly!
PLUS, it's got dirty details of sexual escapades, hush money payoffs, interconnected plot lines, lying, cheating, real estate wheeling and dealing, and world travel to exotic destinations, hobnobbing with the big wheels who are heavily invested in oil!
It's exciting as hell! Almost like hell on earth, matter of fact!
It's going to make a fabulous movie, too!
You can't make this shit up!

Ever see the original "Manchurian Candidate"? The one filmed ca. 1962 with Frank Sinatra & Angela Lansbury? I think of it whenever I hear the mental defective we've put behind the wheel bloviating about what a great job he's doing, better than anyone in the country's history... Recommended viewing.
PS - the 2004 remake with Denzel Washington & Merrill Streep is pretty good, too. Not quite as close to current reality, though Streep does H Clinton to a T....

I knew this so-called "reality TV" thing was a bad deal when it reared its ugly head back around the turn of the millennium. And sure enough, now we see it played out to its logically smudgy conclusion. A "reality TV" chief full of the self-replicating, self-justifying hardbody narcissism of unreality.
Basically, truth stranger than fiction with "new" twists... We shouldn't be surprised, I guess.
