All this Stuff

All this stuff to get,
they say I should procure,
to endure, I'll need to insure.
They keep on screaming, the
pitchmen, pitchwomen, with
good intentions mentioning
more, more, I need more!
the irony of binary, nexus
of excess, the needy and
greedy altogether
all together.

it's rather surreal to me how we are assaulted to buy things.....and more often than not, Fear is the tool used....though some of it is spun as the luxuries we deserve....I get dozens of calls a day....mostly scams.....scamming is a by product of consumerism and the capitalist way....
I don't need any more stuff !

Unless I recognize the phone number, I don't even answer the phone - or I'll answer and immediately hang up to stop its ringing. Occasionally I'm curious about the nature of the scam and will pick up, usually just long enough to hear their spiel, then launch an obscenity at them. So far, I've been contacted by "licensed Microsoft technicians" who, in broken English, warn me that my computer is infected; by Eversource, offering to connect me to a sales rep to negotiate a reduction in my electric rate; by some organization or another offering me a vacation deal because I've stayed at one of their resorts (I have NEVER stayed at a resort); by the IRS, issuing a warrant for my arrest; by the "can you hear me?" people (nearly fell into that one); by one whose English was so bad I couldn't understand a word she was saying; by the firefighters' or state police unions selling cookbooks (for which I fell once years ago, and, mirabile dictu, never got my book); by customer service at Discover magazine, "concerned" about the thefts and interrupted deliveries in my neighborhood (this was one of the most amateurish efforts I've ever run across); on and on. I almost miss the genuine telemarketers. Almost.

I need a bigger truck than that old beater I'm still driving to get rid of all this stuff that's piled up over time! (to be fair, it's not all mine). Or maybe just call 800-JUNK? or maybe sort thru it all and... and... ("less might be more," I whimper.)
saw and sasha, good to see the hustle is still alive out there in America (and global!) Markets, markets, and more markets! ...
