modern romance

[saw]

she was the kind of
unbridled gorgeous
that grabs a tongue
twists it into a balloon animal

or maybe it was a sourdough pretzel

I don't know, it doesn't matter
my mind would always
try to outrace my heart
but it would end up in a dead-heat

we kept bumping into

each other
in different parts of the US of A
Baltimore, New Orleans
Key West

she boarded my ship

The USS Bushnel
The Burning Bush they called her,
towed her into mothballs in Philly
then blew her up later for target practice

off the shore of New Jersey of all things

she said she liked the way I angled my sailor cap
all I could do was smile
we had our epic moments tho
in the backseat of her brother's car for instance

here and there and and a bit of everywhere

etched in my glass head
smoothed by the sands in the Atlantic
never forgotten
my sextant kept track of her

my spyglass spotted her on facebook

modern romance is digital
not the paperback variety,
not the movie with Albert Brooks

thanx gents...i was a little concerned after I reread . that it sounded like I was a stalker...'Untrue....we just connected through FB, and decided to try cohabitation...all is going quite well.....took about 6 months of a lot of communication initially by text and email...then later by phone....then a trial visit from california.....happened to see her name as she was commenting on a friend's page....I had no idea they knew each other....and now you know......the rest of the story....
