This isn’t a poem

Post by Doreen Peri » March 24th, 2019, 7:20 am

I spend all my time
Looking for work
Looking for a new place
To live
Looking for purpose
Trying to contact my
Children

Trying to fall asleep
Trying to wake up
Looking for my glasses
Reading articles that have me
Looking for more articles to read
Looking for my car keys
Looking up words
Trying to find meaning

What time is it?
I spend all my time
Looking at the calendar
What day is it?
Looking at the clock
Where are my shoes?
I need a haircut

This isn’t a poem
It’s a confession

I’m hungry
I’m tired

you could have fooled me 8)
I spend most of my time working, getting ready to go to work, going to work, and coming home from work.
I spend a lot of time brushing my teeth, a two-minute timer on the electric brush, as I brush my mind wanders and wonders"how many more times will I have to do this?" That two minutes can be an eternity inside my skull
I spend all my time eating and I am still always hungry. Or maybe it is anxiety?
Looking for work is the hardest got damn work there is.
Looking for a home is the loneliest feeling
i love to sleep, I once slept through ten years and did not miss a thing except for American war on Vietnam.

I don't know jack shit about poetry, it all seems so confessional to me.
I spend a lot of time looking at computer screens sixty hours a week probably between work and my hard traveling on the internet.
I watch TV too, some days for hours.

I know what it is to have the meta-fiscal homelessness blues
I just can use them as poetical as you, thank you for writing it so well. 8)
