April is the Cruelest Month
April is the Cruelest Month
Almost out of Winter, they assault again,
late blizzards and hoary religious wars.
Desperate and dire, they try to draft you,
like smoke rubbing old English panes.
Jesus came when peace was unpopular.
He kept preaching peace so he had to go,
when Rome tried to conquer the world.
Peace was much too subversive.

Philosophically astute... but of course. He kept preaching peace so he had to go. There it us. Happy Easter

Peace follows War as War follows Peace.

God has become weaponized, and religion, a battle cry. Reject ALL religions of violence and greed; they can't see past the ends of their noses. They've strayed into "prophetic" fatalism and the love of money and "power" and things over all other considerations. JUST. SAY. NO!
Now Jesus? He was something else entirely.

I dunno what is true or untrue but I know I love this writing- the way you express the way you feel
It soothes my soul
Having moments of total empathy
And sadness due to the rage
That so many people feel when death blows you into smithereens..
I guess that somebody will be blamed and then everyone will go onward : striving to show kindness and love to strangers because that seems to be the solution

reason is over rated, as is logic and common sense-i much prefer the passions of a crazy old woman, cats and dogs and jungle foliage- tropic rain-and a defined sense of who brings the stars up at night and the sun up in the morning---
Re: April is the Cruelest Month
most organized religions miss the love part
rather insisting you fear the wrath of their god
in my area people walk by the homeless in cardboard boxes
on their way to worship at their local church
and the church isn't serving hot soup either ( there are a few)
but most are too busy passing the collection plate
governments like war, keeping the peeps in fear
building the implements of war is very profitable
so peace in the end ....is bad for business

If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading
you may end up where you are heading

The only God I know is quietly observing what I do and occasionally letting out a gasp or burst of laughter- the dude has a sense of humor- but the human beings- they are the tweakers in a systematic corruption to dismantle any form of decency

Humor is a foundation of the universe it seems. Take the piss out of us, as the English (or God) might say.
Hell I don't know. We're busy (too busy) fighting for Truth Justice and the American Way, like all those Superhero comics, or just trying to make a goddamned buck on some street corner on the way ... to victory and glory and eventual heaven, as I was told when I was younger, but eventual heaven seemed to be conditional on secret handshakes and affiliations of faith, which might be ok, except these faiths of heaven seemed to be at war with each other through the centuries, so there it is. War up, these God people keep telling me. It's important in these End Times, they keep saying.

Re: April is the Cruelest Month
I like this poem----that is the bottom line of my feelings on it.
The first stanza is super
Almost out of Winter, they assault again,
late blizzards and hoary religious wars.
Desperate and dire, they try to draft you,
like smoke rubbing old English panes.
And Jesus? Well, that is the truth. Peace is not a word that Power cherishes.
