Onward holy soldiers, as to war,
with the Gods of greed and graft
going on before.

Righteous are militias,
crowding 'round their truth.
Forward with many guns,
see their barrels go.

it's remarkable
when you spell it out
in clear language as you have
we were this grand experiment
to find love and empathy, compassion
and the greedy ghouls took over
and decided to kill everyone
that didn't look like them, talk like them
worship their god
wow
such failure
and the aliens are left
shaking their big green heads

True. I just "slimmed" this one down a bit as you replied, to sound more like an old hymn we used to sing on Sundays. I'm certainly not writing off the nation, the race, but as you've probably noticed by now, the gaps between our high, touted ideals and our methods trouble me. FWIW. Not much, maybe.

Sad times. What was always there but hidden, maybe restrained is out in the public square like the evil times of the history---hopefully we can avoid the worst possibilities---but the potential is pretty bad.

Make (America) Great Again.
Can you do that by shutting it down,
shutting it off? I honestly don't know,
just asking the question.

in the end, congress
is a huge failure, both sides
obstructionists
they do the bidding of their donors
Not their constituents
and this is what democracy looks like
the checks and balances touted
in grade school civics
is but a lovely notion to tell children

turning Life into a game,
a game of win or lose
where losers are plentiful,
the vast majority stuck in a rut
hoping the game will shift,
like Gaia's continents of old
where games rules change
into dreams that come true

are not all governments pale
reflections of who we are?
what we want so desperately?
written into words we pray to?
laws we create to save our asses?

break those laws and we're off-
off to the cages like zoos of old
upon the cold stage used as reminders-
if we don't live within the rules,
our own laws we've broken,
we are made to feel we've cheated
and stole from Life we've created
