put on our hush boots

hold their hands and let us leave
this ghostly world of make believe
together we'll discover new land
untouched by distortions of man

lets put on our hush boots
and quietly find our roots
mankind's become a joke
playing hide n seek under the smoke

exhaustion is the sound of the black leather bullwhip
cracking the peace like dark thunder gone mad
we're at war at what we ain't, what we cain't
but we fear to know that which we give a word
that puzzles our minds - god, please help
this pathetic humanity that loves death
as long as it's our enemy we refuse to know

refusing the unknown that knows leaves us stupid
refusing the unknown that knows leaves us stupid
refusing the unknown that knows leaves us stupid

there is an enigmatic paranoia
that is whipped into a fervor
by the media and so-called experts
trying to justify their existence, and
Fear has become a state of mind
for so many that choose to accept
the shallow tongues of well-compensated pundits......

Hard to say.
The woods (and the desert) are so much more gloriously quiet than state-sponsored organized death (seemingly) predicated on not knowing our "enemies" (except that they're a huge threat, as defined by the state), but there's also plenty of sudden death in the woods. Prey and predator. But we're not just "dumb beasts," right? (Thank you Hunter S for that reference...)
