gehenna

Post by mtmynd » May 9th, 2019, 3:38 pm

gehenna

postulating victory
over masses of books
bleating honesty
with trundled breath,
the periscope reaches
highward tickling
the clouds delivered
to brows winking in
scarlet-laced passion

realization takes but a moment
a quickly as that winking brow
manipulates time's worrisome
thoughts stacked high awaiting
precious desires to overcome
Truth's balancing act - a whim
upon another shaky whim
chew that slim jim while moments
flicker by as butterflies in search
of nectars so sweet and lovely.

another one seeking life's approval
gehenna speaks in rapid fire's blink

Truth's balancing act.
Yes, be a tightrope walker,
and if you fall be an acrobat
and figure out a way to land.

the images come rapid-fire but the reader can reread after the first time thru and take the time to dwell on each. The title drew me in. I like the basic metaphor on which the poem turns

truth for many is subjective
even when the facts assert themselves
we humans like to put our own spin
on what we see, and in the end perceptions
become our personal truth
and we can debate that verisimilitude
til the cows come home or the moon turns blue
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

Indeed. Truth is not easily (or even possible) to use words to describe "Truth", but experience it.

Perception is all that we know but knowledge is never fully known.

Thx for the comment, Steve.
