recollections ( or maybe not )

women drifted into Key West
like waves rolling up on the sand
seems in 1969 hitchhiking was rather safe
and many were running from uninspiring lives

up north, in the midwest
you name it, there was this mass exodus
hippies in printed cotton summer dresses
and pigtails down to their waist

she had this terracotta skin
native american volcanic glass eyes
I say this to emphasize
she was way beyond the margins

I mean, she was far too obsidian
top to bottom
to categorize as 100% animal
she had a little vegetable in her

and a lot of mineral

I knew i was going to like this town

I enjoyed this and your imaginative adjectives were, quite frankly, terrific!
Long after the media forgot or ignored the "hippie" I often would speak to other like minds as "Back when Hippies ruled the world!" Not that we ever did but I reckon being stoned and sharing amongst each other it seemed all our fellow seekers were all there was... :)
