Another Motel in Nevada

Desert is draped in gray murk outside.
I'm trying to go somewhere on Universe Road,
like those eighteen wheel Kenworths on my tail,
like space probes zinging, flinging back photos
of puffy red nebulae or other galactic hoaxes.
I'm always halfway across, give or take.

In our little corner of things
I'll move at a standstill on US 50.
The desert won’t be gray for long.

Until then I sit and watch cloud terrains,
dream-spun bluffs, outrageously puffed,
dark collision zones, white canyon rifts.
Millions of years of sky geology
unfold in minutes.

You're on the road... moving or still contemplating the move?

Ah, just memories from a few years back, sitting in a motel, watching sky geology. I will be on the road this year-- finally-- but not for awhile yet...

I like watching clouds. Out in the mountainous big wide open. Sometimes they're like inverted "mirror" landscapes in the sky (coming from it); sometimes they seem to extend landscapes farther and higher ...

have a minute here---like the poem. It captures a scene----contemporary and antediluvian scene also.

This is really great:

Until then I sit and watch cloud terrains,
dream-spun bluffs, outrageously puffed,
dark collision zones, white canyon rifts.
Millions of years of sky geology
unfold in minutes.

I like the 1st part of the poem too but being stuck in traffic isn't awe inspiring----it just is. The space probes whirring and sending back photos are cool too.

Thanks irish, judih. I know Cec is into cloud-watching too (check out his latest photo on Photography). In wide-open desert spaces at higher altitude (4,000' +) it's amazing how rock and cloud formations sometimes interact...

The first part of this was just me scribbling stuff in a notebook on the road (years ago, in this case)-- and taking it from the page and trying to make sense of it.
