After the Tornadoes and Floods

Post by mnaz » May 25th, 2019, 3:52 am

After disaster, relief.
After relief, more disaster.
Tornadoes, floods, plagues.
Politicians, delusions of control.
A few billion dollars worth of bombs
for despots, eradicate foes of Freedom.
Don't ask democracy; it can't be bothered.

After all the floods, tornadoes and bombs,
after all those shots of homes ripped open,
in all those towns, Missouri to mid of East,
how does it all get put back together?

the system is deteriorating
why keep rebuilding in a flood plain ?
where will the money and resources come from ?
we are now living in an age where long inhabited places will become uninhabitable
that message hasn't sunk in yet
people aren't ready to abandoned there heritage
seek higher ground
and frankly living underground in a bomb shelter isn't real appealing either
so what to do
we can speak of resilience fondly
but the insurance companies are eventually going to go belly up.....
and tell you sorry
we ran out of money
and in some cases land and property in certain areas will have zero value
so get out now
before the rush on the banks
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

A lot of my "poems" start with an image flashing in my head, in this case all those images of ruined places I've seen on the news through the decades (decades aren't long in rock time; what do they mean?) All these floods, tornadoes and bombs, some in the wake of industry and some going back further. How does it get rebuilt, or does it? Sometimes it doesn't.
