were different,
not
from each other, No

understand ?
we were alike.....
yet
we were different,

from the rest we knew......
we were different
from all of them, but
different from afar

each being different
but so much alike, but
from opposite ends
of the country

you and I were
were observers
we saw the differences
but ignored the similarities

for a long time...........
but now that's different

and yet we seem programmed to focus on the differences... the tribe across the river, come to steal our bison, our women.... the paradox of overcoming our animal heritage while celebrating it...

alike in our differences
