later that evening
after coming home
to an empty house
I used my secret key
to the metal shed out back,
pulled out a dirty dark green raft
with a hole in it and somehow
miraculously found the patch kit
and sealed up the puncture,
I blew it up with my mouth
phew, but alas the bicycle pump
that was formerly in the mudroom
had gone missing in the ugly purge

bed problem solved

then I washed the clothes
i was wearing, thankfully
the washer and dryer were too much
trouble for the aiding and abetting brother-in-laws
and I paraded around naked foraging for food
I opened the door to the pantry
and started pushing around the picked over dregs
and low and behold there was a big beautiful can
Dinty Moore Beef Stew, and luckily
I still had my government issue P-38 can opener
on my key ring left over from my not too distant days
in the United States Navy, and I was delighted
to scoop it out with a dull wood chisel and put in my mouth

dinner solved

I was on a roll.............................

what life will do when hunger speaks... nothing is forbidden in desperation.

i imagine to spite me
for being angry about her tryst
which we all know was not the first time
that would be far too coincidental
I suppose I screwed up her good life
she wasn't working
she had all the creature comforts one needs
but instead of feeling shame
she was angry that I fucked up her good thing
thank goodness for Florida's forward thinking
no fault divorce policy, all you need to claim
is irreconcilable differences
