A Christian Nation?

Post by mnaz » August 8th, 2019, 1:54 am

Christ means nothing.
Greed and denial are law.
They won't let us have wars,
you know, the ones on teevee,
so go buy an assault rifle from
fucking walmart or some place
and shoot up a bunch of random
people and keep telling yourself it
makes a difference for the good,
or Tribe or what the fuck ever.
Jesus Christ.

Political poems suck.

But this isn't "political."

Well The Left, BLA BLA BLA...

Left? Left? What do we have left?

You're better off not writing at all than writing political.

But this isn't "political;" it's about surviving that sludge ...

(updated)

Where does the PAIN begin -
When does this PAIN ever end?
||___________________________||

We expect far too much in this 21stC,
while violence comes in many names
the end result is always "killing"...
or should we call it "massacre"?

My hometown is understandably shell shocked -
(22) dead and (26) injured taken down in minutes
no thanks to the AR-15, a U.S. made for war,
and for sale to kill fellow Americans... Sick!

I knew none of the dead or injured
but one cannot help but feel the pain,
innocents from 2 yo to 80 at last count;
all the murdered still lying in the aisles
of Walmart... an absolute horror scene.

All this by a 21yo from another town in TX,
500 miles away he drove and even ate breakfast
in the same Walmart before returning to his car
and got his weapon of choice, (the same one as all madmen),
returning and shooting endlessly at every one that he chose to kill...
he surrendered to the cops...

Trump and his wife showed up yesterday to
thousands who did not want him in our town,
(why would anyone invite someone who hates you?)
but he did and even downplaying Beto O'Rourke
who was a (D) congressman... for what reason??
He allegedly arrived to share in the pain and sorrow
NOT for a photo shoot to show how "loved" he was.
There were families in the hospital who refused him.

A largely Catholic community, it helps the suffering
to the huge numbers still praying and looking over the shoulders ...
who else hates our brown skinned brothers and sisters, friends and neighbors?
how many will live in fear afraid of every non-brown
stranger they may see looking at them?

Our local media is still offering memories to those who died as they should...
all races of Americans deserve to be heard, treated with respect, to be accepted -
that is the first step we all must take to lessen pain.

Remember: We all are *or* have backgrounds of people who arrived on the shores,
and sometime or place experienced some degree of hatred... and in turn returned it
to other new comers... it's an American test to see how much the foreigners can take (????)

Of course, that was then and this is NOW... guns for ALL! War Weapons for all! SICK!!!

the paradox is that people get numb to the slaughter but not really numb. deep inside ordinary thinking and feeling people---not the deranged or the brutes or the plantation owners who look at people as assets or costs---are fundamentally disturbed, angry, afraid, despairing. Christianity? Phony Christianity----Swaggert crap----not Love Thy Neighbor.

I think mnaz your thoughts and Cecil's are right on target----target!!----isn't that an ironic word!

U.S. Christianity is that ol' pick and choose what "they" want in "their" bible.

on target----target!!----isn't that an ironic word!

Right in the crosshairs

BTW: Jesus never pinned himself as being a Christian.

We took the Christ out of Christian.
Everything is about making a profit.
A Goddamned immediate profit, like
some twisted reality from way back
which is really just recent, and just
crunch numbers, see if the possible
collateral casualties are acceptable,
see if you can win reality teevee.

nothing really new about this - wealth has always granted power, power has always raked in wealth - what in engineering is called a positive feedback loop, like when a microphone connected to an amp and a speaker starts picking up what's coming from the speaker, amplifying it and broadcasting it and picking it up again... left unchecked it can shatter eardrums and burn out electronics...

Our illustrious New Hampshire R-governor has just shot down a state proposal for enhanced background checks. His reasoning? No need, we're already a safe state, our people already know how to properly handle firearms, and there haven't been any horrific acts of gun violence in our good state. Not yet, anyway.

Great idea, Chris. Let's wait until we do see some massive carnage in Portsmouth, Manchester, Concord, or Keene. Then we can dither and dally and wring our hands and wail, "oh what to do, what to do". After offering our thoughts and prayers to the victims, of course, while throwing another sop to the fucking NRA.

What wasn't Great about America?
before this asshole got elected, by
a jury of nobody's peers and God
knows what else.

What wasn't Great about America?
before we decided to hate everything,
and at the drop of a politician's hat,
take up arms against our own.
