the sunshine of my love

Post by saw » August 20th, 2019, 11:52 am

new headphones cuddle my ears
Emerson, Lake and Palmer
'from the beginning', ...I'm pullin'
on them fat strings, black cherry
and water to soothe the morning pipes

I'm in the rabbit hole
where blisters easily form from excitement,
where music enters the canals, spreads out
along the meridians, The Chi
is animated, acoustic, aflame

my stand up bass is dancing
seemingly without my assistance
probably happy to get out of the corner
where it sits waiting to be fondled, and so
it is one of Those days

when it all comes together
one of those days when we share our affection
when molecules mesh
and there are no more solids
and notes pass through the skin

Frankenstein turns into Astaire,
moments like this remove the paralysis
of drab gray breathing,
turn oafish green vision
into neon orange euphoria

it is one of those days...
the sunshine of my love
the radiance of a pop-up tryst
when there is no hindrance
to a transcendental affair
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

Oh, the places my old Koss headphones took me! Thrusting an air guitar in my hands so I could jam with Mahavishnu, or take over for Al Dimeola in Return to Forever! A little weed to accompany Mahler's 5th Symphony, or the other-wordly sonic spaces of Iannis Xenakis, Morton Subotnik, Donald Erb, Charles Wuorinen... world after world after world... your musings take me back to those pre-tinnitus days... thanks for that!
