I long for the moments
when the power of idle
eclipses the moon, when
the wonder of dreaming
inches by like a prophetic caterpillar
smiling from antenna to antenna
when all your creature comforts
are in place and the big bad wolf
has emphysema and has nothing left
to blow down your door, then perhaps
your house of cards may be fine
assuming you have not made a wrong turn
into a jurassic trailer park
and you are the meat du jour, and
it's a beautiful thing
when time slows down just enough
to see beyond the film of speed
and the speed of light answers to you
alone, when alone is exciting
for weeks on end
and quiet is learning
and the light gets brighter....
and the gods and goddesses
of contentment
come for the weekend
and you are ready
with plenty of snacks and beer

oh yes - when I was a coder, rushing to meet deadlines and making all kinds of mistakes, a more seasoned colleague always used to caution me, "Slow down - you'll go faster"

the atv's that roar past me on the trails might cover more ground - but I bet I see more (like the bear Dog & I saw last night!)

thanx sasha...Mike Flanagan a great pitcher for the Baltimore Orioles later became a pitching coach ....it came out years later than on many of his visits to the mound when he noticed a pitcher was out of his comfort zone and now instead of pitching he was merely trying to throw the ball as hard as he could, Flanagan would suggest, "Try Easier"....sometimes it's all about slowing down....getting in tune with what you do best...noticing the subtleties....taking a few deep breathes instead of putting your head down and plowing through...we all have gotten caught up in the grind
