I don't care about clever
I want to be honest with you
I am a Flying Wallenda
completing a death-defying stunt
walking a wire in the stratosphere
between truth and embellishment
between two-tone nimbus clouds
floating in a sky of stormy weather
that challenges my vision
to see the world with brilliant eyes
and then to try to poeticize
without a package of baloney
or cans of spam piled into a pyramid
on the table with dreams of grandeur,
that grandiose grandstanding
that mars the painting like dragging
a key along the body of a car
what a task it is, what a tryst
verisimilitude
sleeping with your works of art
brushed by a mere man
in search of something authentic
how can a gallivanter know when
he has arrived ?
he won't
that is up to you

I think that this is really very well done
And I question if you are having any fun?

It seems as if your mistress is blackmailing you to create-
Ok maybe I am absurd with the far left
I feel like an artist— which is like the best incarnation of real I got —that’s what I got - love and music
You will never really see the whole picture
But your attention to detail is impressive

Maybe just relax - let words crash and bump and grind
Let uncanny kindness heal your soul

thanx jana...well actually i get a great deal of enjoyment from painting and writing, but how is it possible to be objective about any of it....?
it's not up to me whether any of it is any good..."that is up to you ".... ....

I think because we love these arts arts so much....sometimes we press too hard though....trying to create something...in any case, i keep puttin' it out there....good, bad, indifferent.....I can't imagine not even trying.......the process is mysterious to me....i have no idea where things come from....the content is usually a surprise...i just get started and see where it goes....

I'm not sure "fun" is the right word either...is hiking fun ?....i see it more as spiritually enjoyable....in the woods there is a transformation....your brain chemistry actually changes....same is true with painting and writing poems....something changes....for the better...is it fun ?....well, I'd say it's very fulfilling....and brings a great deal of contentment...... .......but not sure if that is fun

A nice bit of poetical philosophy (or philosophical poetics?) I can relate, going through "final edit" on another book ... the dangers of "sleeping with your works of art." You can get too close. Am I walking that wire without falling off? Am I "killing my darlings," when less is more? ...

I don't think Art is as easy as write, re-write, try to please.

It is fire to be danced in, hurricanoe to be cowered before, daybreak to be sipped.

If it's good, it's good. The Artist in it for the long haul had been learn to trust that Art is an open door to all, & never closes on those who have passed through.
