it ain't quite that simple

you want me to choose
one color....
that doesn't make sense....
your linear question
to categorize me ,
and when I do i suppose
I will hear you say, So

you are a purple man, Stevie ?

No
I just like it
but I like a lot of other colors too
it was you that asked for only one

So, how did you come to purple ?

sideways, I reply

No, I mean was it love at first sight ?
Or, did it you grow on you ?

Well, actually no color
that I recall has ever really grown on me,
that would actually feel awful I imagine

So, you like to imagine ?
So you are a John Lennon fan ?

Yes, I am...but
I like a lot of other musicians as well
What's the matter with you ?
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

Which hat shall I wear today?
The photographer?
The mathematician?
The diarist?
The layabout?
The hiker?
If I don't know, how can you?

The "Primary Colors"...
Ah yes they say you gotta choose.
They point some sorta gun at you
and say: "Choose Now, your color,
your economy, and it is with God,"
and it better be the Right One, or
forever hold your peace.

I dunno. I think The Shouters
are missing a lot of great colors
mixed in between.

thanx for the comments
metaphor is so perfect sometime
for saying something without beating one over the head
cubby holes seem to make the masses more comfortable
but I've never understood nor appreciated it's relevance... 8)
