The tree

Post by creativesoul » September 24th, 2019, 7:03 pm

The tree grew up and around the two houses
Giving them shade from the sun
All the children played under it
Roots sprang up
From below

Perhaps the tree
Had heard too much in 200 years

The natives in the northwest
Would have had that wood
Stacked and ready for lodge
Imaging the fine things that could be crafted
Of oak
With a generation of laughter in her limbs
I slept rather close to that tree
I think somehow
It protected me
I feel it’s weight I go to the ground
It gifted itself
Need to honor that tree
reason is over rated, as is logic and common sense-i much prefer the passions of a crazy old woman, cats and dogs and jungle foliage- tropic rain-and a defined sense of who brings the stars up at night and the sun up in the morning---

I had a few of those tress in my lifetime...like a sturdy old godfather...a literal pillar of the community...I have such an elm currently in the back yard....a member of the family... 8)

And I have one as well, an old white pine in the southwestern corner of my lot - sat in that yellow lawn chair to write haiku.....

I've named this one "Grandfather"

Beautiful beautiful trees-
I am always planting
Avacados and papayas
Like me

Looking at a jocandra tree
Purple flowers
