The Birds after Hitchcock

the humidity creeps back
like a banished pair of damp socks
that can walk on their own

but i can tolerate it for now
because I want to be outside on the porch
I wanna hear the cardinals sing

not the catholic ones, the avian ones,
like lovesick teenagers
unashamed to make a spectacle of themselves

I want to be inspired by them
write a poem about something, nothing
with the fanfare of a Shakespearean title

maybe the robins can be of assistance as well
we all know how much they like to rock
time can stand still when you are deep into the page

when the ink is flying
like rounds from a paint-ball machine gun
and you really can't slow down to question your decisions

you believe in their music, their voices
you believe in the fresh saturated air
you get a kick from the pedestrian traffic, dogs

on the leash, and I guess I'll never really know
where true inspiration comes from,
but I think it might be the birds

after Hitchcock 8)
mingo found new depths in that movie
... image just keeps going down and down and down into the subconscious, finding new depths.

Songs of the Ancients they
say, they survived an Asteroid,
the same that killed the dinosaurs,
or so I heard from a few scientists.
I think singing would be a natural
response, long live song.
