running on fumes of prurient fantasy
long past my capabilities but still young enough
in that one spot along the dotted lines
of a life that looks like a rabid energizer bunny,
getting up before the sun to beat my big bass drum,
these random thoughts approach like a dreamstalker
in an out of the meager furniture in a room
at the top of the stairs, desires come so naturally
yet don't seem logical in this spectral stagecoach scenario
shotgunning along the prairie of my years in super slo-mo,
visions... like that woman running in her Maidenform bra
in tv commercials when i was a much younger man....
Dig In Ye Horses of Destiny, pound the trampled earth....
Pull My Sorry Ass Along the rutted grounds of ancient travelers
before me....I just have one small favor....Deliver Me somewhere soft
my skull is fragile, and my muscles and tendons can no longer
cushion the blow.

In time you stop to watch the prairie,
the one you shotgunned along for awhile..
A soft landing would be nice, even if the
world will never stop lurching and grinding..
