Regret as a Shawl
_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_

Unfold the edge of night
and let the light enter
the caverns of your space

The echoes of loneliness
have long been buttressed
by your denials of love

Your heavy breathing
vaporizes suggestions
that have played you
against yourself
relieving you of burdens
carried like crosses
carved from glaciers

Truth has stalled between
your lips as an eternal pause
waiting for a rush of fresh air
to push it out and into the
world you have always imagined

Delay is no longer your forte
adjust to the presence of being
that lives in the shadows
that you yourself have cast
thru dreams of what could've been

And open your self to the reality
that makes you what you truly are
and not some shadowed ghost of
what might have been....regret
does not wear well upon you.

the first two short stanzas set the poem in motion, and the rest moves us along
as the narrator questions whether one has become all he can be

the poem has a nice flow...no snags to get hung up on............. 8)

And open your self to the reality
that makes you what you truly are
