Whipoorwills in the Woods

Post by the mingo » November 12th, 2019, 11:11 am

a letter left
in the library
when the days were very long
& very bright
Doll, you may have found a place of rest but I'm still on the trail.

this is true :
I once watched a man in a dirty trench coat
walk to the center of a 4 lane road and place something
on the double yellow lines and walk away
I waited a bit and then walked out to check it out
it was a much handled envelope
I picked it up and my curiosity burned and I figured that man
did not want this any more
so I opened it
It was postmarked 1943
It was a Dear John
I wrote a poem about it
I will try to find it and post
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading
