Jesse Colin Young on the box
sweet granite sugar rock echoes
a mouthful of lonesome grateful

a stereophonic carpet ride
bumpin' into sunset with the oblivion express
yeah, music is my balm..... (( bomb ))

so spread it 'cross my forehead liberally
and often, keep that T-Rex (the real one. not the band )
At Bay. ...with your 10 foot fiberglass pole

I'm safe today
tomorrow is an unfamiliar saloon
with swingin' doors and chandeliers

and one empty bar stool
with a pair of mule-kick headphones
sitting on the scarred bar top in front of me

Tomorrow I'll sidle up on that stool
push play
soar too high for the Pterodactyls

Yeah tomorrows are endless,
said a tsunami earthquake meteor
asteroid impact meltdown ice age,
previous epochs and old disco too,
the best bass players were the funk
and the best bass player is the rock,
high desert rock, swingin doors and
chandeliers, some old saloon where
Jim West fell on a stunt and the show
was never quite the same after that,
but after what?

hey, your reference to Jim West got me thinking about Robert Conrad and Wild Wild West, so I googled him to see if he was still alive...he is....84 years old married twice, 9 kids !......he was in a head on collision driving drunk......drove his Jag into a kid in a Subaru, both suffering serious injuries, the kid eventually died prematurely in his late 20's and the family filed a civil suit against Conrad with was settled in 2005...he made a lot of movies, and had great success on TV...but the accident was definitely a black mark on all that

My girlfriend lived in LA for 30 years and got a taste of Hollywood royalty.....she says it's a mess....adding the people you remember the most, are the ones that are the most gracious.....but they can be hard to find....it's a fast life, lots of parties....and folks vying for attention...not all...but many

in any case, thanx for triggering my little sojourn into the past....Wild Wild West was truly original

Yeah, please 'scuse my late nite ramble there ... WWW, quite a show. I have seasons 1-3 on dvd-- picked 'em up cheap (used) at a video/cd store. Season 1 (1965, black-and-white) has some surprising stuff on it-- like Jim tripping on a mind-twisting drug (Loveless laced his shaving brush). Of course this was right after Kesey's Magic Bus Ride, so there ya go. Season 4 is when Conrad got hurt in the chandelier stunt-- had to suspend production for awhile. Dude was tough as nails. Probably still is ...
