New Mexico

A back eddy of epochs,
plateaus and volcanoes,
tribes, wars, religion's embrace.
Painters came for supernatural
light, to enter the church, and the
old church sits in a desert canyon
like no desert, engraved rafters and
crosses from hundreds of years.

Good to see you taking all this beauty in... worth every moment, giving the true meaning of "The Land of Enchantment".

Santuario de Chimayo

Three foot thick adobe walls.
Crucifix of Christ of Esquipulas
set into complex adorned walls,
immaculate images of images,
ornately-carved rafters above,
and that sacred hush of quiet.

Dig the holy dirt in a side room.
Pilgrims walked miles to get there.
They say that dirt heals, and it does.
Dig all the shrines and their crosses.
Dig the baby shoes stuck to the roof
in the next room, and all the children.

Re: Santuario de Chimayo

It's churches like this that helped sustain the peoples way before the U.S. was ever conceived.

How powerful faith is for people worldwide, regardless of their beliefs.
Interesting to see your interest in this, amigo. Sis have anything to do with introducing these antiquities..?

Indeed she did. New Mexico blows me away. It doesn't feel anything like part of the US at times...
