I want to learn something new

I hope I don't sound too glib
when i tell you I want to learn something new.....
just because you happen to remember what it is
"they" say about old dogs,
please don't suspect that I am only looking
for attention
I've spent far too much time
going through all the motions that
make up a paycheck, and Johnny Paycheck
said it well, Take This Job and Shove It....
and with a little luck that's only a portion of a life....
I dig The Delevantes, those two brothers that sang
( The Truth )............It's a Living Baby, It's a Living
Ain't No More, Ain't No Less, It's a Living Baby, At It's Best
Sing me that song that makes me cry...my work is over
but my scarred heart can still feel the tempo of the leggy colt
my withering lungs will still sing the harmony filed down with the rasp of weathered wheat
I'm still looking for the next surprising thrill in the meadow...forget about all those decades
that flew by in the blink of a young mare's eyes, yes
it may soon be time for the pasture
but til that time comes see me as a seasoned stallion,
I want to learn something new
