the woods is my church

i congregate there often
with maples, oaks, pine
I give thanks to the bees
meditate on the river
my apostles are all squirrel-ly like me
my brethren are avian by nature
my attendance is not assured by fear
I want to go there
we all need a place to give thanks
mine just happens to have no walls
no steeple
yet spirituality abounds just the same
in every wildflower, every rock
