2020

Post by Shem » March 31st, 2020, 4:21 am

Here we are,
No, really we are!
I mean, who expected it!
we've all heard the stories,
from our parents,
GRANDPARENTS!
but we didn't believe them.
I mean, not really...
we're beyond THAT!
exempt.
it will never happen here.
said again.
and again,
again
again
again,
And we were always right,
but oh so wrong.
the past ALWAYS returns.
politically, pandemicly.
Somtimes it comes down to the same thing.
isolate and incinerate.
move beyond the fear.
Leave the letter that never begins to go find the latter that ever comes to end, written in smoke and blurred by mist and signed of solitude, sealed of night.

Poetry can break the chains of fear. . .thanks

Random geezer quotes to follow:
“There have been as many plagues as wars in history; yet always plagues and wars take people equally by surprise.” The Plague Camus (quoted in The War That Ended Peace. )

Sometimes I think the past is a snare and a delusion
My father born in the 19th century, my weltanschauung is an anachronism.

If not for the comic strip Calvin and Hobbes I could/would not get up in the morning.

I'd like to think that this is some sort of wake-up call from the surreal childishness, naked greed, pettiness and tribal hatred that has possessed a great number of us, lately. (And even if so, how long does it last?...)

"Skepticism is the chastity of the intellect" ... That's a good quote.

A wake up call.
I can hope.
Unfortunately,
the lessons of the past would indicate:
Consolidation of power
Into few hands;
the beneficiaries:
The wealthy,
Connected,
Upper class.
The poor and downtrodden
can look to themselves;
and in this age of self-interest,
there may be naught to find.
The past repeats,
endlessly.
And we have yet to learn..

Or at least produce a better system.
"the better of two evils"
Only leads one direction

Stay optimistic.
Stay alive and turn the talk.
My thing is, the Rich can't get
too much blood out of a turnip.
If consumers dry up, what then?

Listening to our great-grandparents
All the veterans of The Great War are dead, so we don't have to listen to them anymore.
Are we doomed to it, Lord, chained to the pendulum of our own mad clockwork, helpless to halt its swing? This time, it will swing us clean to oblivion.”
