don't really matter if you want IT
or not, Day.... will always turn into night
and night is the time for confessions
for those that believed they have sinned

for the rest of us it's a time for reflection
moonlight on the water of life with concentric ripples
What did I do today.....hmmmm
let's take the day apart and put it back together again

Was there anything there to write about
did I learn a single damn thing, change the world
in even some silly way, did i sacrifice, did I care.....
did I notice the man in the cardboard box

did i sleep on a park bench, or was it the couch
with the TV running wild and low like a noir soundtrack
in the back of my mind, did unconsciousness help me feel
Anything....was time a thunderbolt or a dog whimper

am I a wheel-spinner, or a spinner of Tales of Ulysses
when cream came flowing down from the eyes of Aphrodite
like silky tears that could float a raft of possibilities.....
Of Course I'm not making sense....what do you want ?

for this is a time of unauthorized use of ballpoint pens
the words are not mine, I swear it, but they did come to me
from IT, that voice that needs no introduction, that comes
after dark, when I refuse to get on my knees

when insomnia thwarts fear, and my hand is lifted by the puppeteer
and my mind sleeps in the corner
it's that time......time for IT to speak....that time....
when my tacit agreement rules the unlit room....and I become a scribe
