Susan's fairy garden

catbird in a blue spruce
red robin on a black wire
I kick back, let the filtered sun
pour through the slatted fence
make its way into my comfort

temperature matches temperament
mild with little concern

Susan has created a fairy garden
for idlers like myself, men
who don't need to be somewhere else
the iced coffee jolts ever so gently,
a transcendental sparrow comes for afternoon tea

my chair pitched back, legs up
mind full of early summer intoxicants
I document ecstasy without a camera
here with only my G-2 Pilot ballpoint pen
my hand glides like falling water

over the edge and onto the page
oh my, another poem about nothing
oh my, another poem about everything
one day, one moment, one nano-second
of peaceful endorphins

swimming
in an aquarium
of alga-rich thought and whimsy
thankful
lovely plants and flowers, honey bees, no pain

A fine meditation for a lazy summer morn. The world here is green and moist, throbbing with Life - birds calling from the woods, chipmunks rustling through last year's leaf litter... while I was sitting outside this morning in the molded plastic lawn chair I retrieved from the dump, doing yesterday's crossword, a doe stepped out of the woods to browse in my driveway... the evening news is like some distant, war-torn, 3rd-world country...

Now that's Livin' ! SO many of us need that type of life, sans stress... unnecessary, friggin' stress... society's killer.

Loved this piece! Thank you, sasha.

the way i feel about doreen's tea party on studio8
studio eight on a perfect start to a late spring morning in the pre-dawn light

thanks for sharing her garden 8)
reminds me of:
View From Home
(Bryan Bowers)

Black crow sitting on a red roof, house on a hill
Old yellow truck in the driveway got some miles on her still
Out front the pavement's buckled where the roots have taken hold
To the south lies the mountain, a glory to behold
