contemplative tangle of Sunday morning turbulence
a small invisible eddy whirls around my waking head
there is so much to absorb beyond the pale gray light
today marks time
the death of my beautiful niece
the birth of my beautiful son
and today is Father's Day
the first one my dad will be missing in his earthy form
the confluence of these three rivers
weighs heavy on the shoulders like a waterfall over the edge
my eyes squint to find the page, my heartbeat is irregular
my blood seems thick, and hot
June 21st, June twenty first
a day to be quiet
a day to remember love
a day to sit and reflect
and the images run rapid,
whitewater photographs, animated
pictures at an exhibition on life
smiles and tears
loss and gratitude, it's all there
in a rambling old movie in black and white,
randomly colorized in parts without warning
June 21st, June 21st.....a day with guts and teeth
and soul
and everything there is.....
June 21st, today .............
a capital D, kinda Day
June 21st

Re: June 21st
you've shared so much
reminding me that a day in the year can be so large that it bursts into tears and poetry
