the art of nothing

Post by saw » August 24th, 2020, 9:16 am

what shall I do
with all this time on my hands
and
what does that mean

how would time get on my hands
in the first place
why
would time always settle there

why not on my shoulders
but no one ever makes such references
never heard someone speak of time on their elbows
it always seems to be all over their hands

Styx sang about it
so did Billie Holiday, Count Basie
I guess I could bide my time, wait for clarity
but I think it's best I put on my travelin' shoes

stroll down that country road without all the answers
singin' the blues to the squirrels and blue jays
like Blind Willie McTell, playing my harmonica
like Time was on my side

would you tell me I'm Wasting my time ?
would you tell me such frivolity is the work of the devil ?
please don't rage against the "idle",
there is nothing to be afraid of..... doing "nothing "
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

doing no thing is a spiritual event that supersedes all things. And indeed, "there is nothing to be afraid."

good piece, Steve.
