whiz-dumb

Post by saw » September 12th, 2020, 11:29 am

some say the hummingbird
can also sing, so let's not close
our minds hoodwinked by adjectives,
let us instead try to imagine a tiny voice

I try hard to picture her little vocal chords
but realize I may need a microscope
and an infusion of serum imagination
to picture the faint vibration

where does she come in
on the chromatic scale of subtle dreams
how deep her mark
in the notched handle of time's shovel

can I dig a little truth
from the throat of awareness
learn something monumental
from the atoms of a tiny bird

wisdom is everywhere, waiting
to be extracted by the blind
waiting to be sipped like anointed nectar
by tiny avian tongues and men who are thirsty for more
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

Nice. We look, glance, glimpse, but do we see? (Or hear?) Georgia O'Keefe said, "I will make you see these flowers, like I see them," and away she went, magnifying their light and essence, putting brush to canvas, painting large...
