cards

[saw]

we journeyed into night
cards on the table, souls
poised for the camera
that wide shot from the clouds
that looks like a brand new hairdo

psychedelic patchwork jeans
like nothing regurgitated
acai berries and ginger crystals
hey, maybe past abuses might
vanish in the willingness for more

we experimented. got outside
the confinement of rusting parts
jury-rigged to keep her running,
and maybe, just maybe, impenetrable skin
would soften and absorb

there were major successes......
something good was erected
in the name of love and hard work
but in the end the house of cards
blew away in a single gust

and some of the cards
never came down,
they were last seen
in a funnel cloud
disappearing into the horizon
