each new trail brings out the boy,
one more glorious chance to go back
to that age of innocence immortalized
in novels older than time itself, the wonder

so I search the maps looking for pathways
unseen by fading old eyes, well trodden entries
into the magic of nature waiting with open branches,
the music of rolling streams in my ears

like the enticement of the flutist nymph

I know that feeling.
